Adding, Editing, and Deleting POPs

The primary purpose of adding and editing POP information is to make updated access information available to your users.

To create POP entries in a phone book

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, point to Internet Connection Services for RAS, and then click Phone Book Administrator.

  2. Select the phone book in the Phone books list.

  3. On the Edit menu, click Add POP.

  4. Click the Access Information tab and type or select the following information:
    • POP name

    • Country

    • Region (optional)

    • Area code (For countries that do not have area codes, type a space in the Area code dialog box to continue.)

    • Access number

    • Status: In Service or Not In Service
  5. Click the Settings tab and enter the following optional information:
    • Set the service flags available for the POP.

    • In the Dial-up Networking entry box, type a name that matches the entry used by the Connection Manager Administration Kit wizard.

    • In the Analog speed lists, select the minimum and maximum rate.
  6. Click the Comments tab and type any comments. Comments are used as an administrative reference and are not published as part of the phone book.

  7. Click OK to add the POP to the phone book.

To edit POP information

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, point to Internet Connection Services for RAS, and then click Phone Book Administrator.

  2. Select the phone book in the Phone books list.

  3. Select a POP entry in the POP information list.

  4. On the Edit menu, click Edit POP.

  5. Follow steps 4 – 6 of the previous procedure, "To create POP entries in a phone book," to configure the phone book.

  6. Click OK to save the edited POP to the phone book.

To delete POP entries

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, point to Internet Connection Services for RAS, and then click Phone Book Administrator.

  2. Select the phone book in the Phone books list.

  3. On the Edit menu, click Delete POP.
