The IIS Transaction Log
The Internet Information System (IIS) transaction log records HTTP queries sent by Connection Manager and posts by Phone Book Administrator, it also records all activity by WWW and FTP services. Log files can become large over time and should be saved and then archived in order to save hard disk space.
To determine the location of the transaction log files

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, point to Microsoft Internet Information Server, and then click Internet Service Manager. The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) appears.

Click the IIS folder to expand the tree, and click the server name.

Right-click Default Web Site, and click Properties.

Click Properties from the Active log format box. The log file directory is listed.
