Windows NT Event Viewer Error Messages

The following is a common Windows NT Event Viewer error message, visible in the Application Log, and its resolution. To view the Application Log, the “Log” menu option in the Event Viewer must be set to “Application”.

“Provider has not been fully configured. Please use the service property page to complete the service configuration.”

The following is a list of problems that can generate this error message.

The client DNS name you have entered is invalid or incorrect
You have not applied the configuration changes you made.

Solutions:

Check the spelling of the DNS name, and verify that the Client machine is up and running.
If you did not click “OK” or “Apply” when you made your configuration changes, you will need to go back and re-configure the server and click either “OK” or “Apply” to save the changes to the local database.

Note

The existence of an IP address is not verified at configuration time but at initialization time.
