Welcome to the Microsoft Internet Authentication Services Administration Guide. This guide is written for system administrators of private networks and Internet service providers (ISPs) who are using Microsoft Internet Authentication Services software. This software uses the Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) protocol to perform remote authentication, authorization, and accounting of users who are connecting to an ISP through a network access server (NAS).Internet Authentication Services is referred to in this document as IAS. This guide describes IAS and the tasks an administrator of IAS needs to perform. An intermediate knowledge of network technology and the Microsoft® Windows NT® operating system is assumed.
