Key Features
Internet Authentication Services has the components and features that provide a complete telecommuting solution for your corporation, including:
-
Centralized authentication databases that reduce account management problems.
-
NAS-vendor independence through the use of the RADIUS standard. IAS is compatible with popular network access servers such as Cisco, Ascend, US Robotics, Bay Networks, 3COM, Livingston, and others.
-
The ability to add new attributes within RADIUS messages to accommodate new technologies.
-
The ability to create a profile that reduces administration overhead. These profiles can specify the sites or gateways a given client is permitted to access, preventing unauthorized access and reducing administration overhead.
Internet Services Available Through IAS
With IAS, you can create or provide different types of configurations using Internet technology. Shared secrets among servers, combined with passwords and RADIUS profiles, can support a variety of Internet services, such as:
-
Internet remote access. Access to the Internet via a remote server which forwards the request to the Windows NT domain controller.
-
Secure connections over the Internet. Connections that provide the functionality of a private network but use secured channels within the public network (the Internet). Private networks within the Internet lower costs for corporate subscribers and expand the services provided by the ISP. Other private-network services may include online banking, access to financial information, real-estate services, and access to content for closed user groups that are hosted by the ISP.
