Starting and Stopping Internet Authentication Services

You manually start and stop IAS from the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) component of Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or from Windows NT Server Manager. You can also set up IAS to start automatically.

To start or stop Internet Authentication Services from Microsoft Management Console
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, and then click Microsoft Internet Information Server.

  2. Click Internet Service Manager. The system displays the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

  3. 4. In the left pane, double-click Console Root. The tree expands and displays the IIS folder.

  4. Double-click IIS. The tree expands and shows the name of your computer.

  5. Double-click your computer name. The tree expands and shows RADIUS.

  6. Right-click RADIUS, and then click Run.
To set up Internet Authentication Services to start automatically
  1. On the Start menu, select Programs, and then select Administrative Tools and click Server Manager.

  2. On the Computer menu, click Select Domain.

  3. Enter the computer or domain where you have installed and configured IAS.

  4. Select the computer where you have installed IAS.

  5. On the Computer menu, click Services.

  6. Select RADIUS Server, and then click Startup.

  7. Under Startup Type, click Automatic.

  8. Under Log On As, click System Account and Allow Service to Interact with Desktop.

    The Startup column reflects your change.
