Shared Secrets

Each IAS server must have a shared secret for every network access server, or other RADIUS server that will forward RADIUS requests to it. There are a few rules you must follow to successfully set up shared secrets:

• The shared secret entered at both servers must be entered exactly the same.
  
  
• Secrets are case sensitive.
  
  
• Secrets can use any standard alphanumeric and special characters except the backslash (\) and the double-quotation mark (“). For example, OurL!ttle$ecret is acceptable; Our”L!ttle\$ecret” is not.
  
  
• No spaces or other non-printable characters are permitted within the secret’s string. For example, OurL!ttle$ecret is acceptable; Our L!ttle $ecret is not.
