IAS Components
The following list describes the components of Internet Authentication Services:

Authentication Service. Establishes a connection for dial-in user authentication between the NAS and the specified authentication method using the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RADIUS protocol.

Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Extension. The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) enables you to manage the Internet Information Server and authentication service from the MMC window.
Important
At any time, you can reinstall IAS in order to add or remove components. If you intend to reinstall Authentication Service, back up _Adminui.mdb to another disk or rename it before beginning the new installation.
To install Internet Authentication Services

Start the Setup program for Microsoft Windows NT 4 Option Pack Master Setup compact disc.

Read the license agreement, and if you accept it, click Accept.

When prompted, click Custom. (If you have already installed any part of the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack, click Add/Remove)

In the Select Components dialog box, click Internet Connection Services for RAS in the list of components, then click Show Subcomponents, and then make sure that Microsoft Internet Authentication Services is selected. Then click OK.

When Setup is finished, click OK to restart your computer.
When you have finished installing IAS, you must configure it to suit the specific needs of your dial-in users, your hardware configuration, and the requirements of the computers you’re connecting to. The following section describes the steps you take to configure IAS.
